What Is e-Aadhaar?
e-Aadhaar is a password-protected electronic copy of Aadhaar, digitally signed by UIDAI. UIDAI states that e-Aadhaar is equally valid as the physical Aadhaar letter.
What You Need
- Your Aadhaar number, Enrolment ID or another identifier accepted by the download service.
- Access to the mobile number registered with Aadhaar to receive the OTP.
- A phone or computer that can open and save a PDF file.
Steps to Download e-Aadhaar
- Open the official myAadhaar portal.
- Select the Download Aadhaar service.
- Enter the Aadhaar number, Enrolment ID or other accepted detail.
- Complete the captcha and request an OTP.
- Enter the OTP received on your registered mobile number.
- Follow the instructions to download and save the e-Aadhaar PDF.
How to Open the e-Aadhaar PDF
The downloaded file is password protected. UIDAI's commonly published password format is the first four letters of the name in CAPITAL letters followed by the year of birth in YYYY format. For example, if the name is RAMESH and the birth year is 1992, the password format would be RAME1992.
Keep Your Aadhaar Safe
- Do not share your OTP with anyone.
- Store the downloaded PDF in a secure location.
- Use the official UIDAI portal rather than a third-party download website.
- Consider using Masked Aadhaar when you do not need to disclose the full Aadhaar number.
AadharHelp does not download Aadhaar on your behalf and does not ask visitors to submit Aadhaar numbers or OTPs.
